Golf Cart and Tour Bus Applications
Golf Course Vehicles
Power golf carts used by players, maintenance teams and course operators.
Resort Shuttles
Support guest transportation between hotel buildings, restaurants, beaches and activity areas.
Campus Transportation
Support passenger and maintenance vehicles used at schools, factories and business parks.
Community Vehicles
Power low-speed vehicles used in residential communities, private estates and retirement communities.
Strong Hill-Climbing Support
Climbing performance depends on the relationship between the battery, controller, motor, gearing and vehicle load.
The 105Ah battery can provide stable voltage during climbing, but its discharge-current rating must meet the controller demand.
For applications involving steep terrain, provide:
- Maximum slope
- Passenger capacity
- Vehicle weight
- Motor power
- Controller peak current
- Tire diameter
- Expected climbing duration
This information helps determine whether the standard battery configuration is sufficient or whether a higher-current BMS is required.
Charging Requirements
The battery should be charged with a compatible 51.2V LiFePO4 charger.
The charger must match:
- Battery chemistry
- Charging voltage
- Maximum charging current
- Connector type
- AC input voltage
- Charging communication, where required
Using an unsuitable lead-acid charger may result in incomplete charging, repeated BMS protection or reduced battery life.
A compatible charger can be supplied according to the destination market and vehicle connector.
Avoid Charging Below 32°F
The battery may operate in temperatures below freezing, but charging below 32°F / 0°C should be avoided unless the battery includes an approved heating or low-temperature charging function.
Charging at excessively low temperatures may affect battery performance and service life.
For golf carts operated in cold climates, optional solutions may include:
- Internal battery heating
- Low-temperature charging cutoff
- Insulated battery compartment
- Temperature-controlled charging environment
- Smart charger control
The selected low-temperature strategy should match the expected winter operating conditions.
Battery Meter and Monitoring Options
Traditional lead-acid battery meters may not provide an accurate state-of-charge reading for a LiFePO4 battery because lithium voltage remains relatively stable during discharge.
Optional monitoring solutions may include:
- Digital state-of-charge display
- Bluetooth mobile application
- CAN communication
- RS485 communication
- Dashboard battery meter
- Current and voltage display
- Fault and warning indicators
Available communication functions depend on the selected model.
Regenerative Braking Compatibility
Some golf carts use regenerative braking to return energy to the battery during deceleration.
The battery must be able to accept the charging current generated by the motor controller. If the battery is fully charged or the regenerative current exceeds the BMS limit, protection may be activated.
Before installation in a regenerative braking vehicle, confirm:
- Maximum regenerative voltage
- Maximum regenerative current
- Controller model
- Battery charging-current limit
- BMS communication requirements
This is especially important for modified or high-speed golf carts.
Storage and Seasonal Use
For long-term or seasonal storage:
- Store the golf cart in a dry environment.
- Avoid leaving the battery fully discharged.
- Switch off the battery or main disconnect.
- Disconnect unnecessary accessory loads.
- Check the battery state of charge periodically.
- Recharge according to the recommended storage interval.
- Avoid storing the battery in extreme heat.
- Do not leave an incompatible charger connected continuously.
The low self-discharge rate helps reduce energy loss during storage, but periodic inspection is still recommended.
