Can Wiren U5 battery compatiable with Growatt inverter?
Jul.01, 2026
If you are planning a home energy storage system, one of the most common questions is:
Can a lithium battery work with a third-party inverter like Growatt?
The short answer is: Yes — Wiren 48V lithium batteries can be compatible with Growatt inverters in most off-grid and hybrid setups, as long as the communication and settings are configured correctly.
In this article, we will explain how compatibility works, what settings you need, and what to watch out for when pairing Wiren batteries with Growatt systems.
1. What Does “Compatible” Actually Mean?
When people ask about compatibility between a battery and an inverter, they usually mean three things:
- Can it physically connect?
- Can it communicate (CAN or RS485)?
- Can it charge and discharge safely?
For Wiren lithium batteries and Growatt inverters, the answer depends mainly on communication protocol and inverter configuration.
2. Wiren Battery Overview
- Residential energy storage systems
- Off-grid solar setups
- Hybrid inverter systems
- OEM integration (UL-certified design standards)
Key features:
- 51.2V nominal LiFePO₄ chemistry
- CAN / RS485 communication support
- Built-in smart BMS
- High discharge capability for load spikes (e.g., air conditioners, pumps, golf carts in parallel systems)
- Multi-brand inverter compatibility focus
3. Growatt Inverter Compatibility Basics
Growatt inverters are widely used in residential solar storage systems across the U.S. and globally.
Most Growatt hybrid inverters support:
- Lithium battery communication via CAN or RS485
- User-defined battery settings (voltage-based mode)
- Multiple lithium battery brands through protocol selection
4. Wiring Wiren Battery to Growatt
Option A: CAN Communication (Recommended)
- Connect CAN H / CAN L between battery and inverter
- Set battery type to “Lithium (User Defined / BMS)”
- Select compatible lithium protocol

Option B: RS485 Communication
Some Growatt models use RS485 instead:
- Connect RS485 A / B lines
- Set inverter to lithium communication mode
- Chooose RS485 on battery

Option C: Voltage-Based (No Communication)
If communication is not supported:
- Set inverter battery type to “USE” or “USER” mode
- Manually configure:
- Bulk/Absorb voltage: ~56.8–57.6V
- Float voltage: ~54.0–54.8V
- Low cutoff: ~44–46V
This method works, but:
- SOC accuracy is lower
- System relies on voltage instead of BMS data
5. Important Settings for Stable Operation
To ensure stable performance, we recommend:
- Disable “lead-acid mode” completely
- Use LiFePO₄ profile whenever possible
- Match charge voltage to battery BMS limits
- Avoid over-discharge below BMS cutoff
- Keep firmware updated on inverter side
