A battery inspection plan should connect visible equipment condition with the operating history recorded by its control systems. Use the manufacturer's maintenance requirements and the site's responsibilities to define the checks, rather than assigning one interval to every installation.
Define the Inspection Scope and Responsibilities
List the cabinets, battery modules, cables, cooling equipment and monitoring systems covered by the plan. Distinguish routine observations from electrical inspection or service work requiring qualified personnel. Define who records findings, who reviews them and how urgent issues are escalated.
Review Cabinets, Cables and Connectors
Within the permitted inspection scope, record visible enclosure damage, corrosion, water marks, blocked access, damaged cable supports or changes around connectors. Compare observations with earlier photographs. Do not turn a visual inspection into live testing, tightening or opening equipment without the approved work procedure.
Review BMS Trends and Service History
Review available alarm records, temperature patterns, voltage differences and changes in reported capacity alongside operating mode and load. Trends need interpretation against the model's limits and measurement conditions. Keep firmware updates, configuration changes and previous corrective actions with the same asset record.
Set Intervals from the Equipment and Site
Choose inspection and service intervals from the documented equipment requirements, environmental exposure and operating duty. Reassess the plan after an incident, installation change or recurring alarm. Assign a follow-up date and accountable owner to each finding so the inspection produces a maintained service record, not only a completed checklist.
