Prepare a marine LiFePO4 battery for seasonal storage using instructions for the installed model and the vessel. A useful preparation checklist records the battery condition, storage arrangement and responsibilities before the boat is left unattended.
Confirm the Battery’s Storage Instructions
Identify the battery model, system voltage, charger and battery management system before planning storage. Obtain the current manual and confirm the specified storage state of charge, temperature limits, permitted storage duration and inspection schedule. Use the manufacturer’s approved method to assess charge status; a generic voltage target is not a substitute for instructions for that battery.
Inspect and Prepare the Installation
Record visible damage, moisture, corrosion, unusual indications and any recent alarms. Have concerns reviewed before storage. Identify equipment that will remain connected, including any vessel services that must stay operational, and agree the storage arrangement with the responsible marine technician. Follow the approved isolation and cleaning procedures rather than disconnecting circuits or adding insulation without an installation review.
Schedule Checks and Return to Service
Assign someone to carry out the checks required by the battery manual and maintain a dated condition log. Include charger status, displayed battery information and changes in the storage environment. Before the next season, arrange the specified return-to-service inspection and confirm the charging system and vessel loads are ready. Keep this checklist with the battery model, manual revision and service contact so that the same requirements can be followed consistently.
